I work long hours, especially years back. I must admit that when the first Pinoy Big Brother, or PBB, was shown in ABS-CBN, I started going home earlier than usual. I got hooked at around the middle of PBB’s run. I thought, “Hey, this reality show is not that bad.” And so I got to know Cas, Chx, Say, Jason, Rico, Franzen, JB, Nene and the other housemates (and I’m 100% sure they don’t know me).

Then I went back to my old habit of not watching local TV.

Lately, however, I started hating GMA7 when it’s 10:00 p.m. and the Survivor Philipines has not yet started. While the show naturally tries to be consistent with its original format, the nature and disposition of Pinoys make it less interesting than the foreign counterparts (even with the bikini and all). And it’s the first time when the title doesn’t reflect where the castaways are marooned (Survivor-Philippines, I believe, was done in Thailand).

I’m interested to see how each would react to each other during challenges and how they vote during the tribal council. It’s a mind game. And that makes it fun to watch.

Now, just for the fun of it, who among the remaining Survivors you think will win? Kaye, Cris, Rob, Charisse, Nanay Zita or JC? Why?

Update1: 26 November 2008 – Kaye got booted out of the island. This is unexpected because the more logical victim should have been Charisse, because the others are members of the original tribe before the merge. Next bet: Cris to go in the next tribal council.

Update2: 2 December 2008 – Cris got lucky and won the immunity challenge, which means he got spared from the high possibility of getting voted out. Surprisingly, Nanay Zita got kicked out (my guess was Charisse, but turns out I was wrong), although the move makes sense strategy-wise: Zita is a strong contender for the top crown (this is the time-tested strategy from the Survivor series, which is also true in real life . . . look, for instant, at Manny Villar getting all the flak). What’s more surprising are the statements of Nanay Zita. She should have not allowed her heart to dominate her decisions, she said. But I believe this is not really accurate. For one, it’s a game of strategy, she knows that. More importantly, she voted JC out. It’s easy to see that JC is one of the top contenders, which may show that Zita knows her strategy. She also said that she was wronged (and short of wishing that others would do the same to those who remained), which is the more surprising statement. It is, after all, a game of strategy. I could be wrong, of course.

Next bet: Cris gets voted out, unless he again wins immunity. If that happens, Rob and JC will vote for Charisse. On the other hand, Cris and Charisse will vote for Rob. How to break a tie, anyone?

Update3: (8 December 2008) – Cris got voted out during the last tribal council, which was last week. There was a twist in our prediction, as JC (who won the immunity challenge) gave the immunity necklace to Rob. Next bet: Rob to go in the next tribal council (unless he wins immunity). If Rob gets booted out, I would bet on Charisse to become the first Pinoy Survivor winner. The reason? JC won’t get the vote of Nanay Zita, among others. Can’t say the same thing for Charisse.

Last update: (12 December 2008) – I didn’t watch the show since the last update. Somebody opened the TV a while ago and wadoyouknow, it’s the finale. I was absolutely wrong in my prediction. Charisse is out of the picture, which brought JC and Rob before the jury. But boy, they extended the show way too long, it became annoying. I fell asleep. I don’t know who won. Sorry.
