Eid’l Adha (November 27-28) not National Holiday

Maybe you’ve already made plans for the long weekend from November 27 – 30, right after you’ve heard about the happy news that Malacanang declared November 27-28, 2009 as national holidays, to commemorate the Islam feast Eid’l Adha. This was contained in Proclamation 1808.

Problem is, you forgot you’re not in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). Even Malacanang may have forgotten that according to Republic Act 9492, Eid’l Adha is a regional holiday in ARMM.

Then came Proclamation 1808-A. It says November 27-28 are not national holidays. Eid’l Adha is a regional holiday in ARMM. And you’re probably not in the ARMM.

We’ve already updated the list of 2009 holidays. You probably should update your travel schedule.
