Holy Cow: Attack of the Jaywalking Cows
Least we be misunderstood, “holy cow” is an expression (neither a religious slant or the name of the restaurant). Also, jaywalking applies only to human pedestrians who walk outside the pedestrian crossing or who walk at the center island of a street, thoroughfare or highway so as to obstruct, hinder or prevent free passage of vehicles (there are other acts which are considered jaywalking, as you can read from the related post). If you’re the traffic officer, how would you report the violation for these cows in Metro Manila? Certainly not jaywalking . . .
I remember a feature in Imbestigador about these cows that roam in and around the villages in Novaliches, Caloocan City. It’s funny that these cows are back in full fours, or force, I mean. These cows must be powerful or magical as no one is brave enough to deal with them. Because of these powerful cows, it’s not uncommon to see poop scattered on the streets, which must be part of someone’s idea of a green revolution, all-natural fertilizer for those pollution-sucking trees.
No traffic enforcers I see out there turning those cows into corned beef. And to think the MMDA and the local governments are fighting as to who should enforce traffic laws. Why is that? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
