Marital infidelity in the Philippines is a male phenomenon. That caught your attention, didn’t it? If not, then most probably you’ve always come across infidelity, maybe to an point wherein you think it’s “normal”. In any case, a study quoted by the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) pegs the proportion of married men engaging in extramarital sex at 36%.

Would it surprise you to learn that the proportion of married WOMEN engaging in extramarital sex, according to the same study, is 2%? That’s 2 married women for every one hundred. Of course, that’s very low compared to the 36 married men out of 100, but it still makes you pause and think — are you sure your partner is not among the two out of hundred women? Some even say that figure is increasing.

Whatever the figure is, the fact remains that it’s happening. You may even know a woman or two who is married and guilty of marital infidelity. Now that you know the figures, are you scared it could happen to you?

The point of this post is to determine how you could keep the trust amidst all these figures. Sure, it’s easy to say you just have to trust each other. Trust is one of the core values in a relationship. But how do you keep the trust? If you’re the seloso/selosa type, how could you keep your “selos” from getting the better of you? If your partner is the seloso/selosa type, how do you deal with it? How to you “assure” each other of faithfulness? I’m sure there are no easy answers. Let’s discuss.
