After breakfast one day, as I was about to go to the office, I discovered two unpleasant surprises. No, it wasn’t LBM or some nasty ailment. It was more of an “out-of-the-body” experience.
One — the front tire of the Innova (Toyota) was flat. It would have been a lot more convenient to simply use the other car, except for the fact that it’s in the province on election “duty”. So, there was no choice but to face the prospect of pouring out some serious sweat even before the day starts. (It’s really quite amusing to use “no choice” in the last sentence because I had more choices while in law school – riding a jeepney, riding a bus, taking a cab, or taking a hike. There was no car in the equation.)
The second surprise was more unpleasant.
Out of habit, I first proceeded to get the spare tire, and it was then that I made the biggest discovery of the day. The spare tire, the unused and untouched tire under the back end of the Innova, was missing. It was stolen. Gone. Darn.
If it’s any consolation, though, at least four spare tires were stolen in the vicinity of our office. It turned out that it’s so easy to steal the spare tire, and it takes only a minute or two to do that. But I still love my Innova . . . even without a spare tire (Ahem, Toyota, would that qualify me in the “I love my Innova” ad campaign of yours? =)
