The network war of my lifetime is no doubt currently being waged, and we could say you have a perception problem if you haven’t noticed it. Between the cases filed between them, the constant tug-of-war of talents, the sometimes not-so-subtle press releases and all the slogans, it’s difficult to miss the battle between ABC-CBN Channel 2 (“Kapamilya” network) and GMA 7 (“Kapuso” network).
And the battle that has spilled into homes, threatening to shred the delicate fabric of family under one harmonious roof. Alright, alright, that’s an exaggeration. But it’s not entirely untrue.
I grew up in a family stuck to John en Marsha and all ABS-CBN, even before the network thought of calling us “Kapamilya”. Now that I’m married and have a family of my own, my companions are Kapuso die-hards, and by “companions”, I’m talking about my wife, my kid and our house-helps. In the ensuing battle of the remote control, you know who wins. Not me.
So, let me ask you this: Is your family Kapamilya or Kapuso?

It’s the viewers who are the “losers” in the sense na pinag laruan lang nila tayo. It’s like politics pare. Both are using the viewers for their own gain.
