It’s said that to better prepare for the future, we must understand the past. So for parents who want to expose their children to significant Philippine historical places, lumped within a relatively small area, then Intramuros would be a good place to start.
It’s the home of a number of historical landmarks, including the Manila Cathedral, and Fort Santiago, which also houses the Rizal Shrine. Jose Rizal was imprisoned in Forth Santiago, then walked a short distance to Luneta for the firing squad. The Cory Aquino Memorial Shrine and Ninoy Aquino Monument are just outside the Intramuros wall, as well as the Miguel Lopez de Legaspi/Andres Urdaneta Monument and the National Museum.

On the fun side, the location is very near the Museong Pambata and the Manila Ocean Park. And by the way, in Intramuros you’ll see the reincarnations of the despised guardia civil during the Spanish times.
Que horror!
