Probably you’re thinking that “price war” refers to the competition among the petroleum industry players when it comes to pricing their products. This is not what we’re talking about, and it’s not because of the perceived monopolistic attitude of petroleum companies. We’re talking about the price of gasoline relative to the price of diesel.
Something unthinkable, as far as I’m concerned, happened recently — diesel is now more EXPENSIVE than gasoline, even the premium kind. This is one of the surprising turns in the roller coaster ride of the prices of gas.
Whether which is more harmful to the environment is another matter. This aberration in price, if I may call it that, has a potential effect on the car buyer’s decision.
Choosing a car depends partly on the kind of fuel it consumes. Some people want to go green, buying electric-powered cars. Some want fast cars and go for gasoline-powered cars. The budget-conscious, including the public utility vehicles, prefer diesel-fed cars because diesel is cheaper than gasoline. This is no longer true as of today. Diesel is actually more expensive than gasoline. So, if you plan to buy a car, would you go for a car that runs on gasoline or diesel?

Mas mababa na ulet ngayon ang presyo ng diesel. Diesel pa rin ako mas nakakatipid.
