Stanley 14-302 Pruning Shears

Quick! Based on what first comes to mind, is a “gardener” properly a “he” or a “she”? You’re most probably thinking a “she”, but you may have forgotten that gardeners (hardinero) in porn movies are always men. Actually, that’s what I heard.

Lately, I’ve rediscovered gardening as one of the many steps to lose weight. It’s perfect, really. Lose weight, beautify your home, save the planet. Two years ago, I thought of doing just that, but I was too busy gaining weight to pursue gardening.

This time around, so as not to waste hard-earned money “invested” on garden tools, I took it seriously. Here’s one of my trusted helpers — a Stanley 14-302 Pruning Shears.

Stanley 14-302 Pruning ShearsIt’s an implement to, well, prune. Use a saw for big branches, but use pruning shears for fine-tuning the trimming process. The Stanley 14-302 is a bit more expensive than the other pruning shears found at your friendly hardware shop, but it’s all worth it.

This one is no longer new and shiny, since this was bought around 2 years ago. It’s sharp and balanced. It’s not heavy. It perfectly fits the grip. It doesn’t twist when applying heavy pressure, like cutting a bigger twig of various plants/trees. All of that means, at least for me, absolute control. If this tool was available decades ago and if I were a kung fu master, this would be my weapon of choice in close quarter combat.

Now, back to reality. It doesn’t dull quickly. It doesn’t rust easily. But it sure does the job quick and easy.  Plus it looks really cool.

The only problem, if this is a problem, I’ve experienced is this — after using it for some time, the locking mechanism (see the black switch?) snaps back to lock right after cutting something.  But, hey, that’s not a big deal for me. And I’ve found a way to handle it — unlock it every time. hehehe Enjoy gardening.

We have a Stanley 76 AccuScape cm Shears 75 350. While cutting a tree branch, one of the handles broke. Is it possible to order a new handle? We are interested in getting a replacement.

    Thank you,
