What to Expect When You’re Expecting
For soon-to-be- first time fathers, the process of pregnancy is riddled with so many mysteries. You could, of course, ask your OB-Gyne to answer many of your questions and clear out the mysteries. However, you go visit your doctor only on consultations and considering that many of your questions would seem trivial to ask (or you can’t wait until the next visit to the doctor), it’s always better to have a resource that you could check.
There are so many books about pregnancy. I know because I took time to check various bookstores and even online. The one book that was recommended to me by my friends (and, in turn, I highly recommend, is the book What to Expect When You’re Expecting (Arlene Eisenberg and Heidi Murkoff). I was looking for the copy that I bought, then I recalled someone borrowed it (and obviously did not return it).
The book presents the experiences and possible issues that a pregnant woman (and, necessarily, the expectant dad) would expect in a chronological manner. Morning sickness.Dizziness. Vomiting. Food. Postpartum period. It’s a good book that will make you say: “Hmmmm, now that explains it” (and you’ll be glad you know why your wife or significant other is having mood swings).
Pregnancy always involves the father. In order to better deal with the pregnancy (and, yes, your wife), it’s always a plus to be informed (and forewarned). Just a tip, while you could buy a brand new book, second-hand bookstores usually have this book. It’s cheaper.
